The BIOMAST team specializes in applying structural mechanics principles to the biomechanics field. Our primary focus is studying and analyzing frequently injured biological structures in humans and animals, which pose a challenge in medical treatment and care. The research is focused on examining the biomaterials and technology already employed for injury site repair to enhance patient outcomes and implement novel approaches and technologies.By integrating anatomy, physiology, and foundational theories of structural and material behaviour, we employ numerical methods for in-depth investigations. Our goal is to bridge the gap between engineering and medicine, and provide physicians with cutting-edge solutions that will enhance patient outcomes and address clinical needs.
Our research activities encompass a wide range of materials used by clinicians to restore the functionality of tissues and organs. At the BIOMAST laboratory, we conduct degradation and complex experimental tests to capture and model the mechanical behavior of these materials.
We strongly believe in collaborating with clinicians to understand and address clinical challenges that impact patient care.
